Last-minute call to music video star – The RNG Classics VW Golf GTI Cabriolet shines with Ren

At RNG we thrive under pressure, and this recent project was a perfect example. At zero hour, the management team at Sick Boi, representing global music sensation Ren, reached out with an urgent request: they’d been let down on a vehicle for a music video shoot and desperately needed a stylish, era-perfect car to bring their concept to life.

Their top choice? Our 1987 VW Golf GTI Cabriolet. Their deadline? Immediately.

With no time to spare, we turned the car around and had Ren’s own manager come to us to collect the car so next day it was ready to roll. The result, our classic GTI features heavily in Ren’s latest visuals for The Story Goes and Control Alt Delete, adding nostalgic flair and narrative weight to the story unfolding on screen.

These videos are part of Sick Sick Soul, a new EP collaboration between Ren, the acclaimed indie outfit The Skinner Brothers, and the creative force at Sick Boi. The project blends raw storytelling, genre-pushing sound, and a heavy dose of visual identity—and our VW Golf GTI fits right in. In fact, the car doesn’t just appear in the videos—it’s also featured as an animated image on the EP’s cover artwork, cementing its place in the world of Sick Sick Soul.

With its drop-top design, 80s attitude, and cult appeal, the Golf became more than just a backdrop—it was part of the soul of the shoot.
