The Classics Forecast- Projections for Modern Classics

Posted on September 28, 2024

As we come to the tail-end of 2024, our classics community are buzzing to explore which of today’s cars may become the “modern classics” of tomorrow- so we thought we’d throw in our guess. Brands are continuing to blend their nostalgic history with contemporary engineering, with a vision to create vehicles that inspire beyond their own generation.

Although an older model, the lotus Elise is sure to solidify its position as a modern classic over the coming years. Arriving as a saving grace for Lotus in 1996, the Elise boasts a lightweight design and agile driving dynamics. As one of the last true analog sports cars, it prioritises simplicity and connection with the road, offering a raw, thrilling experience that’s increasingly rare in today’s tech-heavy vehicles. With Lotus ending production of the Elise, its rarity will only enhance its desirability among enthusiasts.

A more recent car generating a lot of attention is the Jaguar F-Type. Jaguar has always had an impressive track record for producing iconic cars, a standout being the E-Type. One of the main attractions that cars provide at first glance is their look, and the F-Type ticks all the right boxes. It’s unequivocally good-looking, which boosts its timeless appeal. Its sculpture only enhances its experience as a potential modern classic, with the supercharged V8 R model boasting 575 horsepower. This car provides the perfect balance of sports power and elegance, suggesting it will likely join the ranks for future collections.

Another vehicle on the radar for the further future is the Ford Mustang Dark Horse. As Ford pushes the Mustang into a new era, the Dark Horse promises to be a standout with its track-focused design and thrilling V8 performance. With the Mustang’s enduring popularity, the Dark Horse edition perfectly captures the American muscle flavour. Being a bridge between tradition and innovation, it is a future classic in the making.

We will be certainly keeping a keen eye out for these models and many more in years to come. In the meantime, if you’re eager to experience what makes a machine so unique and timeless, explore the eclectic range of classics we have to offer now at RNG Classics. Jump in!
